The break-in occurred Nov. 15, 2025 at a house in the 100 block of Old Main Street.

According to an affidavit filed in Miamisburg Municipal Court, the ex-girlfriend called 911 at about 12:35 p.m., saying that Elzey was banging on the door, and that she had gone out of the back of the house.

When an officer arrived, he reportedly saw Elzey climbing into a broken window and grabbed his legs to try to pull him out, according to the affidavit. He stopped pulling when he saw that Elzey’s stomach was resting on pieces of broken glass from the window and let him go entirely when he believed he saw Elzey about to throw a piece of glass at him, court documents said.

Officers said that they confirmed nobody else was inside the house and set up a perimeter. They reportedly saw Elzey putting items in front of the broken window apparently to barricade himself inside and ordered him to come outside without results, court documents said.

Police sent a drone into the house, and saw an active fire on the first floor.

According to court documents, firefighters extinguished the fire and took Elzey out of the house without incident. Medics took him to Miami Valley Hospital for treatment.

After receiving a report from the fire investigator, the prosecutor’s office decided to reindict Elzey to add on the arson charge.

At the time of writing, Elzey is in the Montgomery County Jail, and is scheduled to be arraigned for the arson charge today.
